Our Story

Porter Saddle Build Cards

Services

Our saddle registry dates back to 1933 and is memorialized in the form of build cards.  These cards provide an accurate and detailed description of each Porter saddle. Our client list includes private owners, potential owners, collectors, retailers, saddle repair and restoration businesses,

and museums.

These clients seek to verify and authenticate N. Porter saddles which adds provenance and value.

Bring your N. Porter saddle's history to life with a copy of its own original build card. As no two Porter saddles are the same, neither are the build cards.

Most build cards include details on the front while others have build details on the front & back. Still, others have attached letters of correspondence, such as personal letters, telegrams, invoices, and hand-drawn illustrations adding substantial history and value.

Using the form below, tell us about your Porter saddle.

Let's start with the serial number.

Most often the serial numbers are stamped on the

left (near) side skirt

underneath the rear housing.

What folks are saying...

"Without a doubt, the best experience learning of my newly acquired 66-year-old saddle, with their assistance. If you’re itching to learn the past of your N. Porter saddle, this is the ONLY way to go! Barkley and Lisa were hands down wonderful and very responsive. No other saddle maker will offer you this amount of assurance or thoroughness of records - such genuine people and an obvious passion for the rich history passed down from relatives!!"
Shelby L. Woolsey

"I cannot even begin to tell you how much I appreciate this"..."I just want to share with your company a piece of our family's story and thank you for being a page in our heritage."
Kari O'Donald Rough, granddaughter of Eircle Monroe O'Donald

"Such a VALUABLE service you provide! I know that your Grandfather would be so pleased, and we are so LUCKY/honored you GET IT!! Wish ALL saddlers were as GENEROUS and understood how significant these records/stories are!!"
CindyLou Chapman-LeGrand

“The life of an N. Porter saddle is so long that the cowboy, rather than the saddle itself, is the first to wear out.” Walter King, a 25-year Porters employee in a 1940 article in
The Arizona Republic.

"Thank you for the help. Taking your time to give people the history of their saddles not only honors your family but blesses others as well."
Jodine Manner
